Who we help

Three paths. One proven system.

Whether you're building strength for the years ahead, recovering from injury, or chasing your next PB, we tailor the same evidence-based approach to you.

The problem

The biggest threat to healthy ageing isn't age. It's inactivity.

After age 50, adults lose between 3–5% of muscle strength every year without regular resistance training.

As strength declines, everyday tasks become harder, and the risk of falls, disease and loss of independence rises.

In Australia, fewer than 1 in 4 adults meet the physical activity guidelines, and activity levels fall further with every decade.

The good news? Most of this is preventable.

Building strength for healthy ageing
Capacity declines quietly. The earlier you train for it, the more life stays open.

Meet the Founder

Beau Harris, Senior Physiotherapist

I'm passionate about helping people stay active, independent and doing the things they love for as long as possible.

After working with thousands of people recovering from injury and managing long-term conditions, I realised healthcare often begins after physical decline has already occurred. I founded 8 Strides to change that, to build strength before problems develop, not just treat them afterwards.

Healthy Ageing & Longevity

Stay strong, mobile and independent, for life.

The way you age isn't fixed. With the right training, you can stay capable, confident and doing what you love well into your later decades.

Why it matters

The biggest threat to ageing well isn't age. It's inactivity.

From our 50s, we lose muscle strength each year without regular resistance training. As strength fades, everyday tasks get harder and the risk of falls and losing independence rises.

The good news: most of this is preventable, and it's never too late to start.

Running

Physio built for runners

Running loads your body in ways nothing else does. Whether you're chasing a first 5k, a marathon PB or coming back from injury, we assess your strength, running mechanics and training load in person, then build a plan that keeps you on the road.

Around 8 in 10 running injuries come from training error and overload, not weakness alone, so we focus on smart load management, targeted strength and a structured return-to-run pathway rather than endless rest.

Physio that understands runners

Running is one of the most common reasons people end up in our Brisbane clinic, and one of the most preventable. Whether you're a new runner building towards your first fun run, a parkrun regular, or an experienced marathoner chasing a PB, running physiotherapy at 8 Strides is built around your training load, biomechanics and goals.

We don't just settle the pain and send you off. We find why the injury happened, rebuild your capacity, and get you back to running with a clear plan so it doesn't keep coming back.

Common running injuries we treat in Brisbane

Most running injuries are load-related and respond well to the right assessment and programming. These are the ones we see most often:

Golf demands mobility, rotation and stability, and asks you to repeat a complex movement dozens of times a round. When something in that chain is stiff or weak, your body compensates, and that's where pain and lost distance come from. Whether you play socially, chase a lower handicap, or compete in pennants, golf physiotherapy at 8 Strides is built around your body, your swing and your goals.

Every few days you submit a quick check-in — scar and range-of-motion photos, pain, swelling and how you're walking. Submitting it instantly unlocks your next block of exercises, so you're never waiting to keep progressing.

Your physiotherapist reviews each check-in, measures your true range of motion, and tracks your progress against your last result — so your program is guided by real data, not guesswork. And if something doesn't feel right, you can raise a concern any time.

Step 01 — Understand where you are starting

A complete picture of your health, strength and movement.

Before we prescribe your program, we need to understand you.

Your first assessment combines a detailed physiotherapy assessment with objective measures of strength, fitness, movement and body composition. This gives us a clear starting point and lets your program be built around your individual needs, goals and capacity.

Start with an Assessment →

What we assess

{{ c.t }}

{{ c.d }}

We don't guess where you are. We measure it.

Two people of the same age can have completely different levels of strength, fitness and physical capacity.

Objective testing gives us measurable data rather than relying only on how you feel. This allows us to:

{{ w }}

Your starting point becomes your benchmark

{{ t }}

Your first assessment isn't a one-off appointment. It creates the baseline that we return to throughout your 8 Strides journey.

← The 8 Strides system
Step 02 — Build your plan

Exercise designed around you.

Your assessment gives us the information we need to build a personalised exercise program around your goals, current capacity, health, preferences and lifestyle.

Your physiotherapist then guides you through the program so you know exactly what to do and why you're doing it.

Know what to do. Know how to do it. Know why it matters.

Step 03 — Your health, connected

Support between sessions.

Traditional healthcare can be fragmented. You see someone, receive advice and then leave. 8 Strides is designed to keep the relationship connected.

Your physiotherapist can monitor your progress, review your data, communicate with you and make changes to your program when needed. This creates a continuous feedback loop:

Technology supports the clinical relationship

Better information. Better support.

Technology doesn't replace your physiotherapist. It gives your physiotherapist better information and gives you better support between appointments.

Your data helps us understand what is happening between reviews, allowing your exercise program to evolve with you.

← The 8 Strides system
Step 04 — Measure, review & progress

Your program should change as you do.

Progress isn't just about completing exercises.

We track meaningful changes in your strength, fitness, movement and overall physical capacity, then use that information to guide your next phase.

What we track

{{ c.t }}

{{ c.d }}

Your program evolves with you.

Your physiotherapist reviews your progress and considers what has changed since your previous assessment.

Your program may then be progressed, modified or adjusted based on your results, goals and current capacity. This means you're never simply following the same program indefinitely.

One continuous system, for life

Then repeat the loop.

The goal isn't to exercise for 12 weeks.

The goal is to build the capacity to live well for decades.

8 Strides is designed around long-term health. We want you to become stronger, fitter and more physically capable, and to understand how to maintain that capacity throughout life.
